Walter, a teenager in "Slay Me" wishes he would have followed the instructions closely because now his foray into monster slaying has taken an unexpected turn. Gerald Dean Rice has the ability to turn an ordinary horror staple into something completely original and frightening. An enjoyable read with an unexpected ending.
This is the first story that I have read by Mr. Rice and I have to say that it immediately made me a fan.A scary, and at times funny read. One that you won't put down until the very last page.Looking forward reading more by this author!
Just further proof that you really need to pay attention and listen well in life! I did enjoy this story.
This had to be one of the creepiest things Gerald Rice has ever written. I spent hours after reading it shaking out my pockets! This story serves as a lessonto always remember to follow instructions and finish the job! The ending completely threw me for a loop. A very enjoyable read and I hope it creeps everyone else out as much as me. No one gives me the heebie jeebies like Gerald!
This was my first venture into the world of Gerald Rice and I was delighted with this first short story. Short and to the point, just the way I like my short stories. It kept me wanting to know more about Walter and what was going to happen. At one point I thought I had the entire story played out in my head thinking, "This is too predictable." but I was completely and utterly wrong about where the story was going. I enjoyed Rice's version of events much more than the ones I had conjured up myself and the ending was simply fantastic.
