The first thought that came to mind when I finished reading this book was WOW! I had difficulty in putting this book down. After reading this, I feel inspired, educated and motivated to implement new tools into my lifestyle that I learned from reading this. Not only an excellent look into how Chronic physical pain is treated, this book is a journey into how patients can become empowered and involved in resolving their pain and improving their emotional well being as well.After reading the first two chapters, I went to the About The Author section at the back of the book and was blown away by her credentials, specialties and by what she has accomplished during her career. Reading the authors bio also cemented my confidence in the wealth of information that this book holds. I was excited that I could acquire this much value and learn so much from someone so highly trained in a relatively short, concise and also heartfelt book. I finished and wanted more. I feel inspired and have already applied some of the simple and short exercises in the book and have found them very helpful. This is truly a one size fits all book that anyone reading this will find something of value for themselves.
Hope is in this book. I love the suggested mindfulness practices (definitely doable). I like too the author's sharing (a professional doctor no less) about the lack and cons of Western medicine and I like her explanation why other modalities such as taichi, qigong, yoga, and Jin Shin Jyutsu works. However, I'd love to read more about these modalities, and if possible, for the author to include some real life examples.
